A Jealous Vox Proves Scalzi Right

John Scalzi ‏@scalzi 7 Nov
If you spend all your time trying to convince people you're just as important as somebody else, you're really probably not.

John Scalzi ‏@scalzi 7 Nov
Conversely, if you spend all your time trying to convince people that somone else isn't important, they may be.

Marko Kloos ‏@markokloos 7 Nov
@scalzi This is of course APROPOS OF NOTHING and doesn’t refer to ANY PARTICULAR INDIVIDUAL we may know.

Of course Vox proceeded to follow this Twitter conversation with a brief rehash of Scalzi's misleading site statistics and his own slightly superior Alexa ranking. It's amazing that he was foolish enough to prove Scalzi right in his own post.

About Vox's readership, he seems not to realize that pageviews are not equal to agreement. If he gets 30K visits, how many of those people are stopping by to spy on the enemy? Because that's how the majority sees him, no matter what he thinks. And his "engaged" readership? All of his comments are in support of his own views and then they band together to thwart anyone who's a freethinker. That's not engaging, that's just a gang mentality, a witch-hunt mentality.

And I'm the witch. Vox has me spammed now because I argued effectively in his comments. Sure, I'm not well-versed in the techniques of debate. I don't avoid all fallacious arguments and I'm not above a little mud-slinging. But the arguments were effective nonetheless. It's also a fallacy to assume that fallacious arguments are inherently false. Just because appealing to authority is fallacious doesn't mean its not effective. So Vox's readership includes folks like me, those who can no longer comment but still read so they're ready for whatever hate-mongering non-sense comes their way.

Don't worry, Pox Vay isn't worried about being spammed. And he's not running away.

  1. You've really made pointless bitching your life's mission. You make it sound so epic.

    1. Bitching, okay. But pointless? I think not.

    2. I see you have been taught well by the establishment.

  2. Um, in the paragraph immediately after the Tweets, I think you meant to say "Beale" rather than "Scalzi".

  3. You're absolutely right Pox. VD's followers like to make fun of Szcalzi's "rabbbit warrens", but non-believers are shunned hard at VD's place. Vox's sheep can engage in whatever rhetorical foolishness they please, but if a smart or sane person commits the slightest logic error in a debate, the shunning goes to 11. Cults have less orthodoxy than the free thinkers in Vox's sheep herd.

Keep up the good work here Pox.

  4. Being shunned by a bunch of fools isn't a problem though. I used to gauge my success by how easy it was to drive Dipshit into a front-page rant - getting him to scream that he was going to dox everyone who disagreed with him was pure win.

He's so easily goaded when you have him figured out.

Still working on that piece, Pox.

    1. Yes we realize Pox is just poking fun at VD. But we're enjoying it all the same.

    3. Behold the mighty debate skillz of the Dread Ilk. Straight to name calling in one reply. Apollo, next time it would be more expedient just to call me a Nazi out of the gate. Har har har!

  6. You are no Nazi. You are under the assumption that Pox is really tearing down Vox Day's arguements when he is doing nothing of the sort. I was really hoping he could tear them down. At least make an honest attempt!

But he is basically spitting his tongue out and singing that old childish tune "Nyah, Nyah, Nyah, Nyah, Nyah!"
    In a verbal sense.

And you house applauds Mr. Pox on his genius skills at verbally throwing Vox Day to the ground.

Also, I am not any part of the "Dread Ilk". I don't post there. I just read it. But to say Mr. Pox is trashing Vox Day is absurdly dishonest.

I really hoping he was more then just this. Because the work he has done here has been down right pathetic.

Unless of course he really can't counter Vox Day's arguements. I haven't seen him counter one yet.

  7. If he were capable I think we would have seen it by now. This site has ended up being nothing more than a trio of bitter mental midgets circle jerking each other. Which is fine, its all consensual and they're staying out of other people's hair. Its just not very interesting.

In other words, you are insulting the people here rather than disproving what you disagree with. Pretty much like Vox spouting off about my speaking out my vagina, when he disagrees with what I say, but can't prove me wrong.
